NATIONAL SPACE DAY – 2024

India commemorates its first National Space Day on August 23, 2024, celebrating the Chandrayaan-3 mission’s successful Moon landing and became the fourth country to land on the moon and the first to reach its southern polar region on August 23, 2023. To honour this landmark achievement, Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi announced August 23 as “National Space Day”.  The theme for the present year 2024 is Touching Lives while Touching the Moon: India’s Space Saga.

The Science Club of Science Departments celebrated National Space Day on September 2, 2024. On this occasion, the guests were Mr. Murali Kumar, PUC Coordinator, SBMJC, KGF. Mr. Kalai Chalvan, Head, Department of Physical Science and Secretary of Science Club. On the same Science Club, installation was made on the same day, and badges were issued for the Club Vice President, Joint Secretary, and members. Mr. Kalai Chalvan spoke about the objective of Space Day and the Chandrayaan mission. Various competitions like Collage, Quiz, Chrome Art, Drawing, Model Making and Crossword were organized on the day at the intercollegiate level for B.Sc., B.Com., BBA, BCA, and PUC students. About 230 students participated in one or more competitions. Prizes and certificates were distributed to the winners.

National Science Day 2020

The science club organized the National Science Day on 28th February 2020 for B.Sc students on the theme “Women in Science” .The chief guest Dr Rekha Sethi, Principal, and SBMJC, KGF addressed the gathering on the role of science in day to day life and role of in women in science and technology. Students presented power point presentation on women scientists and their contributions. Various competitions were conducted and students actively participated and won the prizes in quiz, collage, color your imagination, identify me, chrom art and face painting. 

World Cancer Day

The Department of Life Sciences observed World Cancer Day on 4th Feb 2020”.This year’s theme for world cancer day is – I am and I will and it highlight the value of every individual to fight against cancer .The Flash Mob was performed by the B.Sc Biotechnology students to raise awareness of cancer and its prevention among the students and teaching community of SBMJC, KGF.

DAY -1: INAUGURATION AND EXHIBITION

National Nutrition Week is observed each year from 1st September to 7th September by the Department of Life Sciences to aware the people about important tips of their health and well-being. The National Nutrition Week 2019  celebration started with inaugural session on 3rd Sep 2019 in Chemistry Lab .The chief guest for inaugural session is Dr Rekha Sethi, Principal, SBMJC, K.G.F. who  addressed the gathering on the importance of nutrients and its role in the maintenance of good health  followed by exhibition on Nutrition and health, organic farming and its advantages, preservation of nutrients present in fruits and vegetables ,natural beauty tips analysis of adulteration and diet for cancer. The B,Sc Biotechnology students actively participated in the exhibition and displayed all the concepts   clearly.  The faculty members and students  of various departments  and housekeeping department visited the exhibition  and interacted with the participants.

DAY 2: “Identify Me” competition

The Department of Life sciences   organized “identify me” competition on second day of Nutrition week (4th Sep 2019). B.Sc Biotechnology Students actively participated and identified cereals and pulses by blind folded. This competition helped the students to aware about cereals and pulses used in food preparation.

DAY 3: Pick and speak and healthy recipe competitions

The Department of Life sciences   organized “Pick and speak and healthy recipe competitions” on third day of Nutrition week (5th Sep 2019). B.Sc Biotechnology Students actively participated and identified the micronutrients and macronutrients present in vegetables and fruits and prepared balanced diet healthy recipe and explained about the importance of nutrients for well being. This competition helped the students to aware about micronutrients and macronutrients essential for growth and development.

DAY 4: Riddle competition

The Department of Life sciences   organized “Riddle competition” on fourth day of Nutrition week (6th Sep 2019). B.Sc Biotechnology Students actively participated and identified the mi vegetables and fruits. This competition helped the students to aware about properties of vegetables and fruits.

DAY 5: Puzzle competition

The Department of Life sciences   organized “Puzzle competition” on fifth day of Nutrition week (7th Sep 2019). B.Sc Biotechnology Students actively participated and identified the vegetables and fruits. This competition helped the students to aware about properties of vegetables and fruits.
