World Aids Day

The Department of Life Science in association with Indian Medical Council KGF, KGF Taluk Legal Services Committee, Taluk Health Department KGF and Advocates Association KGF  participated in Mega rally from Municipal stadium  to observe “The World AIDS Day with the theme” Let Communities Lead ” on 1st December 2023.  65 students and five faculty participated and made the event a great success . 

NATIONAL NUTRITION WEEK 2023

Event Name – NATIONAL NUTRITION WEEK 2023 Date: 1st – 7th September 2023

The Department of Life Science observed National Nutrition Week from 1st – 7th September 2023. Nutrition is the focal point of health and well-being. The aim of the program is to create nutrition awareness through various activities

AWARENESS PROGRAM Flash Mob on National Nutrition Week 2023 The B.Sc Biotechnology students performed Flash Mob on 31st August 2023 in order to raise awareness about Healthy diet and its importance for the students and faculty members of SBMJC, KGF. 350 and 40 faculty members were actively involved.

DAY-1 Inauguration and Guest Lecture National Nutrition Week was inaugurated on 1st September 2023 by Ms. Savitha, Assistant Professor, Department of Clinical Nutrition and Dietitics. The guest addressed the gathering on the fuel for the future and enlightened the theme with the importance of nutrients for vital functions of the body and meditation. The Principal highlighted about the nutrients in our day to day life. 60 students and 8 faculty members participated.

DAY-2 Quiz competition Quiz competition was conducted on 2nd September 2023 on Nutrition and deficiency diseases. B.Sc Biotechnology students actively participated and learnt about the nutrients. 16 teams participated in quiz competition.

DAY-3 Healthy recipe competition A healthy diet helps to protect against malnutrition. Consuming a healthy diet throughout the life-course helps to prevent malnutrition. This event was organized to bring awareness on balanced diet and its importance on 4th September 2023. 43 students participated in this competition.

DAY- 4 Identify me competition Identify me competition was conducted for the BGBt students on 6th September 2023. 43 students participated in this competition.

 DAY- 5 Vegetable Carving Vegetable carving competition was conducted for the BGBt students on 7th September 2023. 10 students participated in this competition.

Outreach Program on Dengue Symptoms and Prevention Awareness Program

The Department of Life Science organized outreach program on Dengue symptoms and prevention awareness program .

The nutritious lunch was served by the Student at Modakapalli Kysambahalli on 17th July 2023.

50 students and 5 faculty members participated.

Wine preparation

The Department of Life Science ,3rd year BGBt students prepared wine as per the syllabus prescribed by the University. The students actively involved in the preparation of wine.

19 students prepared wine and  left for fermentation followed with aging.

FIELD VISIT – BRAIN MUSEUM

The Department of Life Science organized field visit to Human Brain Museum, Neurobiology Research Center at NIMHANS Bengaluru, on 26th June 2023. The presentation on Nervous system, human brain and their functions was presented by the technical officer, Ms Sophia M, (Alumni).  The students visited brain museum which has the collection of 400+ human brains which includes head injured brain, fetal brain   of different ages, brain infection, Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s disease, Brains of birds,  fish, animals and other organs. The visit created awareness among the students with regard to normal, injured, diseased brain and brain donation to the Human Brain Bank at NIMHANS. 62 students and 05 Faculty members participated and gained knowledge.
