NATIONAL SPACE DAY – 2024

India commemorates its first National Space Day on August 23, 2024, celebrating the Chandrayaan-3 mission’s successful Moon landing and became the fourth country to land on the moon and the first to reach its southern polar region on August 23, 2023. To honour this landmark achievement, Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi announced August 23 as “National Space Day”.  The theme for the present year 2024 is Touching Lives while Touching the Moon: India’s Space Saga.

The Science Club of Science Departments celebrated National Space Day on September 2, 2024. On this occasion, the guests were Mr. Murali Kumar, PUC Coordinator, SBMJC, KGF. Mr. Kalai Chalvan, Head, Department of Physical Science and Secretary of Science Club. On the same Science Club, installation was made on the same day, and badges were issued for the Club Vice President, Joint Secretary, and members. Mr. Kalai Chalvan spoke about the objective of Space Day and the Chandrayaan mission. Various competitions like Collage, Quiz, Chrome Art, Drawing, Model Making and Crossword were organized on the day at the intercollegiate level for B.Sc., B.Com., BBA, BCA, and PUC students. About 230 students participated in one or more competitions. Prizes and certificates were distributed to the winners.
